These pages are a collection of basic Hakka words and phrases. Pronunciation and tones are based on Sin-On (新安) Hakka variant as spoken in Hong Kong (香港), Shenzhen (深圳), Bao'an (寶安), Dongguan (東莞), and Huizhou (惠州) areas. It is also spoken in overseas regions (Indonesia, Europe, South America) where the migrants originated from above-mentioned regions.
The Sin-On Hakka variant is very similar to standard Meixian Hakka which is spoken in the more northern parts of Guangdong, while Sin-On Hakka is tied to the southern coastal regions of Guangdong.
The romanisation system is based upon Hakka pinjim.
