Thomas,

I first went to http://wave.prohosting.com/ccdict. When I click on this link I am taken to http://wave.prohosting.com/ccdict/ccdict-4.9.9.zip. This page has a "Free ProHosting" banner and instructions "To continue downloading this file, please click the link below". The link only goes back to the same page, so I cannot download the file. Do I have to be a member to get to the file?

What should I do?

I greatly appreciate your help.

I tested the download and did not encounter any problems.

Am I missing something?

Hi Thomas,

I've downloaded ccdict.txt using your link http://wave.prohosting.com/ccdict , but I'm having problems seeing the Chinese characters.

when I open ccdict.txt using say, IE6, I see the following even though I use Unicode (UTF-8) encoding.

Hi,

The first column of the data is the character code in plain text. You need to convert that to the corresponding codepoint. The remainder of the data is in UTF-8 format.

I'll post a modified version which has the complete file in UTF-8 so that you can view the data directly in a word processor.

Give me a few days,

Regards,

Thomas

Thomas:

I finally figured out the problem downloading the ccdict files. My firewall was blocking me. When I temporarily disabled my firewall, I had no trouble.

Many thanks,

Dear all,

An updated CCDICT flatfile v5 with minor changes is available in the usual download section.

Changes
-Corrected order of pronunciations for Mandarin and Cantonese. The last version contained the pronunciations in reverse order due to an unnoticed scripting error.
-Added CNS11643 codes for CNS11643 planes 10 and 11.
-General corrections.

Regards,

Thomas Chin

Looks to be a good resource.

1a) Will you be updating the CCDICT download again? Seems to be two years old.

1b) Available in Unicode/UTF-8/16?

2) Downloads of *.zip files are not allowed from http://wave.prohosting.com/ccdict/
File type unavailable
The file you are trying to access has been blocked because it has an invalid file type.
